Fashion Talks聽at 国产三级片2023/24: Between De-Growth, De-Fashion & Re-Distribution 鈥 Sara Arnold: The Urgent Case for Defashion :

In this talk on fashion and ethics, Sara asks you to consider whether Fashion (with a capital F) is fundamentally unethical. Sara represents Fashion Act Now, an activist group that believes in the need for a paradigm shift that dismantles the dominant, globalized Fashion system and replaces it with a pluriverse of rich and diverse clothing cultures.

Sara will explain the case for defashion. We will explore Fashion鈥檚 links to cultural erasures, sacrifice zones, colonization and economic growth and the feasibility of 鈥榞reen growth鈥 in Fashion. Fashion Act Now envisions a shift towards degrowth, deep decolonization and a flourishing federation of commons. Community is the heart of defashion.

About Sara Arnold

Despite studying fashion design, Sara chose not to participate in clothing production and instead founded an archive clothing rental platform in 2015. Sara subsequently came to a realization that more radical action was needed and joined Extinction Rebellion, coordinating their fashion arm. It was from here that Fashion Act Now evolved and came to coining the term Defashion to describe the need for a paradigm shift in line with degrowth. As the co-founder of Fashion Act Now, Sara convenes the collective knowledge of its members to bring projects to fruition. Sara lectures on Defashion and system change.
