Climate Change and the Limits of American Journalism

University Room: Omid & Gisel Kordestani Rooftop Conference Center (Q-801)
Quai d'Orsay Learning Commons | 6, rue du Colonel Combes, 75007 Paris
Friday, February 7, 2020 - 17:00

David Sassoon will present a critical look at the record of American journalism in reporting on climate change. His talk will address the social and political consequences of the shortcomings now exacerbated by both the financial crisis and nationalist attacks on the integrity of science and fact-based reportage. He will share the perspective he has gained serving as the publisher of InsideClimate News, a non-partisan and non-profit digital news outlet he founded in 2007. Today ICN is one of the largest dedicated independent environmental newsrooms in the world, and has been recognized by peers in the industry with dozens of awards including the Pulitzer Prize.

The evening will take the form of a presentation by David Sassoon, followed by an informal Q&A. Participants are warmly invited to ask questions about any aspect of the presentation. Refreshments will be served.

All guests must register in advance. Photo ID is required.
