Fatimata-Atty Germaine Djibrine, who goes by Fatima,聽is an 国产三级片junior majoring in international and comparative politics with minors聽in international law and international business administration.聽She was聽recently聽invited to be a delegate at the Athens Democracy Forum,聽which ran from September 29 to October 1, 2021. The forum was聽a wide-ranging conference organized by the Democracy and Culture Foundation in association with the聽New York Times.聽
Fatima聽first heard about the聽opportunity聽via an internal聽call for submissions聽from 国产三级片candidates, which was聽jointly聽moderated by聽the聽Center for Critical Democracy Studies聽(CCDS)聽and the Quai d鈥橭rsay Learning Commons. After聽a competitive process, which included an essay submission,聽she was selected as聽one of 24 student representatives聽from universities across the world聽to participate in the conference.聽
The聽hybrid event聽was聽held both聽online聽and on site in Athens;聽Fatima聽traveled to Greece聽as a delegate to a panel titled 鈥淲ake聽Up to the Climate Crisis,鈥 during which a video she created聽on the subject of climate聽change policy and the Global South聽was aired聽and discussed by panel attendees.聽鈥淭he Global South is where climate change is most significant, but there鈥檚 little clarity about it and few people helping,鈥 explains Fatima.聽鈥淢y video was about finding sustainable policies that are inclusive of all nations or that can be contextualized and adapted almost anywhere.鈥澛
Following Fatima鈥檚 achievements in Athens,聽she will聽report聽back to peers and faculty at the Learning Commons Forum for Research and Practice later this semester. She has聽also聽been invited to speak at an upcoming conference in Rome. 鈥淭he organizers want youth representatives to speak about the kinds of climate change solutions they would like to see,鈥 she explains. 鈥淚鈥檓 really looking forward to it!鈥澛
